Norwich — Back-to-back debates involving Norwich candidates for Board of Education and City Council will be held Oct. 18 at Norwich Free Academy.

The evening will begin with a debate from 6 to 7:15 p.m. among the 12 candidates — six Democrats and six Republicans — running for Board of Education. Following that session, the 11 candidates for City Council will take the stage at Slater Auditorium from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.

The debates are co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Southeastern Connecticut, Latinos for Educational Advocacy and Diversity and Norwich Free Academy. The debates will follow the rules established by the League of Women Voters U.S.
